18's went 2-2, which was a bit disappointing. There was no shame in losing to Grant County. That is not a bad team. Losing to HAVOC (Columbus, Indiana area) 18-25, 25-22, 12-15 is different.
Serve receive was strong. Our passers did their job. G. Filbrun passed a strong 2.18 (48/22) while M. Pontigo was solid at 1.86 (80/43) as was A. May at 1.82 (106/58).
Meanwhile, our serving was problematic as was the hitting.
M. Conner was strong from the service line with 6 aces and 1 error. B. Hoycus was a pleasant surprise serving for M. Worl, who had some inopportune misses, with 3 aces and a single error. After those two, it is pretty weak with the other servers combining to collect 16 aces and 21 errors! Yikes.
Combined with the hitters going .127 for the day, and it is easy to see why 2-2 was the outcome instead of 3-1 and maybe pushing on Grant County. What was especially hurtful was our left side hitters combining to hit .101 (28-18/99).
