Both 15's teams ventured north on US-35 for competition at Winamac Jr./Sr. High School. CIViC Crum went 3-0 winning the competition without dropping a set. CIViC beat a good V2 7th grade squad 25-20, 25-18. They then beat Winamac 25-7, 25-21. Lastly, they beat the other CIViC team 25-17, 25-18. CIViC Julie went 0-3 but were competitive through out the day. They hung tough against V2 losing 22-25 and then getting beat up pretty good at 9-25. Lost to Winamac 21-25, 25-12, and 12-15. Just missed too many serves. Lastly was the CIViC vrs. CIViC match.
A good day of competition that lasted forever in the field house as every match except the 1st one went three sets on Court 2. Paul's team went 3-0 beating Jay Co. 25-17 & 25-10, beating Cass Co. 25-14 & 25-10, and Plymouth 19-25, 25-12, 15-12. They did a lot of things well, but they hammered people on serve. 44 aces!!!! "Tip of the Cap" to M. Wall and G. Filbrun. 30 aces and only 4 errors between them. 7.5:1 ace to error ratio. WOW! Meanwhile, CIViC McMains also went 3-0 in the field house winning their pool.
17's Dawn went 2-0 winning 25-22 & 25-14 over Cass Co. - 2's and 25-23& 25-16 over Cass Co. - 1's.
J. Goodspeed - hit 0/19= 0 and received 7/4= 1.75 M. Herr - hit 5/19= .263 and received 22/12= 1.83 A. Plutat - hit 2/12= .166 and received 16/8= 2.00 O. Jones - hit 0/10= 0 and received 12/10= 1.20 J. Tidd - hit 9/26= .346 and received 19/11= 1.72 T. Tempin - received 14/8= 1.75 What a great host we are! Let my brother's team from the Lincoln Club win our tournament.
CIViC Birnell was competitive but lost twice in 3 sets in pool play and then won in cross over to go 1-2 for the day. CIViC Jones/Goodman split in pool play losing 23-25 and 16-25 and winning 17-25, 26-24, and 15-11. They then lost in 3 to Jay Co. in the cross over to also go 1-2 for the day. |
