The 18's had another successful weekend as they went to a new location in Hammond, IN and earned a number one seed following pool play and finished runner up in the competition. M. Ball had a great day hitting opposite as she collect 10 kills on 24 swings to hit a team leading .375. P. Jones chipped in with 16 kills and hitting .250 for the day. P. Jones and M. McMains combined for 10 aces with three errors (all by Page) for a 3.3:1 ace to error ratio. They passed well as a team. K. Hammond passed 2.11 (That covered up for one of our primary passers who passed 1.26, we were lucky she only passed 15 balls, and the libero who passed below 1.60.), L. Schriner passed 1.60, M. McMains passed a solid 1.73, A. Borden fought back from a crappy start to pass 1.57, and A. May passed 1.67. I am not sure what their record ends up. It was a different format. All I know for sure is they won a lot more than they lost.
The 18's won their pool (beating SEIVC from Batesville, Circle City Volt from Indy, and GCVC from ??) and advanced to the Championship Crossover where they got beat by a very good Cougar VBC. At its core, CVBC is Trinity Lutheran in Seymour, Indiana. They were the 1A Class Runner-up in 2019. The are well coached, are active in recruiting, and have good players. They make for a good measuring stick. Detailed stats are in the blog. Observations are after the break.
