The 18's returned to the Hammond Sportsplex. The numbers are posted back on the 18's blog page.
Scores for Pool Play:
vrs. Plymouth 22-25, 18-25
vrs. Elevate 25-21, 25-27, 13-15
They finished 3rd out of 3 in pool play advancing to play the last place from the other pool beating St. Joe Valley 25-20, 25-11
Elevate continues to bedevil us. Other than the first set two weeks ago, every single set has been 3 points or less.
Highlights for the day:
G. Ayres had a monster day. She hit .357 (29-9/56), had 8 aces with 1 error, and passed 1.63.
R. Gleason & T. Coveris combining for 13 aces and not a miss.
O. Neal hitting positive at .130 (8-5/23).
E. Young hitting positive at .142 (7-5/14).
B. McLain only being aced once on 24 receptions (39/24= 1.62).
Why 1-2 for the day?
Our passing was not crisp. T. Coveris led us in passing at 1.75, but it was only 4 balls. B. McLain (39/24= 1.62) and G. Ayres (36/22= 1.63) were good at just over 1.60. After that, things got sideways.
Because the passing was not dialed in, it challenged the setters - especially for the middles. By the end of the day, we had 4 hitters being negative combining for 26 errors! That is an entire set given away.
