There is an old saying in volleyball that you hit to impress, you pass and serve to win. We did none of those resulting in a disappointing Sunday.
The day started with a 16-25, 17-25 loss to the pool winning Squires. We were destroyed in serve receive being aced 20 (yes, twenty!) times. We sure did not help ourselves with 9 missed serves. For those of you keeping track, we gave the Manchester Club 29 or their 50 points!
Then we played our best match of the day losing 23-25, 25-27. We still were aced 12 times in two sets (6 by one passer), but that was an improvement from the 20 in the 1st set. We only missed 3 serves.
We finished playing a Cass Co. club missing their setter, yet they still beat us. We were aced a day low 8 times but missed a day's high 12 serves.
Highlights of the Day
Passing
M. Newcom passed 1.64 (23/14). That is outstanding!
E. Myers passed 1.62 (26/16). That is outstanding!
J. Roberts passed 1.54 (34/22). That is very good for a Jr. High passer.
Serving
M. Newcom was our only player positive to zone at .562 (11-2/24). She also had a positive ace to error ratio at 2:1.
As a 7th grader, Ms. Newcom was our best player on the court. Unless she gets hurt, she is not coming off the floor.
