I have done a crappy job of organizing and coaching this age group. Two missing weekends did not help, but that is hardy the root of the issue. The problem is the teams lack an identity and familiarity that allows for them to think volleyball and instead leaves them worrying about "Where do I stand and next to whom?" We are spending too much time learning rotations and not enough learning skills. That is the fault of a poor coach. Time to change.
We are breaking into basic teams with a lot less movement between teams. The goal is to allow the two teams to establish core identities and have more constructive practices.

After two months. I see little difference between any positional comparison. The most significant difference between the two teams could be two kids doing one skill. Tori Closson and Maicee Sterrett are consistently passing at a high level.
Practicing with the smaller numbers will allow me to see more, give more 1 on 1 teaching time, allow the players more reps, and lastly form that sense of identify.
Team 15-8's Denny
